Cleveland Police have launched an investigation after a robbery occurred at Gilly’s amusements on Norfolk Place in Middlesbrough at around 8:35pm last night.

Police have confirmed two men entered the amusements and brandished weapons.

Staff within the venue were threatened before leaving with a substantial amount of cash taken from the cash machine and safe.

No-one was injured during the incident but staff were left shaken. There were a number of customers in the building at the time and officers would like to speak with them or people who were in the vicinity of the building and may have seen the men.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and is currently in police custody.
