Cleveland Police are today still holding an 18-year-old male in police custody following the Murder of a Middlesbrough woman.

Police have arrested an 18-year-old male on suspicion of the murder of a woman who was discovered within a house on Parliament Road in a Middlesbrough.

Detectives from the Major Crime Team continue to investigate the incident.

Police have not formally identified the woman who is from overseas and not a British national.

A post mortem examination carried out late on Saturday concluded that the woman had died from injuries sustained during an assault.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Hunt, who is leading the investigation, once again appealed for anyone who has seen or heard anything out of the ordinary in the Parliament Road area in the last few days to come forward:

“If you do not want to speak to the police on the non emergency number 101, you can telephone Crimestoppers which is an independent charity where you do not have to leave your name. Their number is 0800 555 111.”
