Police have today charged a thug who left a police officer with a broken leg.

The police officer was left injured after being hit by a motorbike on Wensleydale Avenue in Ilford.

The incident occurred on Monday while the officer investigated reports of suspicious behaviour in the local area.

Police have charged a local man James Howson aged 23 with GBH, dangerous driving and driving without insurance or a valid licence.

He will appear at Redbridge Magistrates’ Court today.

The officer remains in hospital.
