Northumbria Police have arrested a male overnight following a suspected hammer attack.

Police attended at serious incident at 10.55PM on Friday May 2nd following reports of a disturbance at an address at Ulverston Gardens.

Police found two males within the address aged 40 and 35 which serious injuries believed to have been caused by a hammer.

both males were taken by road ambulance to the QE Hospital in Newcastle for treatment, The 40 year old make suffered a broke hand in the attack.

Police have arrested a local 46-year-old male on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit GBH, he remains in police custody.

Anyone with information is requested to contacted Northumbria Police on 101.
