Northumbria Police have launched an investigation after a 16-year-old male has been stabbed.
Police Officers were called to a grassed area opposite the Briadene Pub at 11pm on Sunday May 11th.
Upon arrival police discovered a teenager who had been stabbed, he had suffered a puncture wound.
The teen was treated at the scene by the North East Ambulance service and taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
He was walking along The Links in Whitley Bay, when he was approached from behind by an unknown male and stabbed, the offender made off.
Police are requesting anyone with information to contact them on the non-emergency 101 number.
