Northumbria Police have discovered the body of a missing man in Newcastle.

Police were called to a secure area of the Hadrian Clinic, which belongs to the NHS which is on West Road in Newcastle.

Police have confirmed a body has been found which they believe to be that of missing 52 year old Gary Smith who has been missing since March 31st.

Police have informed the family and do not believe the death to be suspicious.

It is unclear how he gained access to a secure area and tragically died.
