Man charged with attempted murder following whitby incident

North Yorkshire Police have charged a man with attempted murder following an incident outside a Whitby pub.

Police can confirmed a 31-year-old has been charged with attempted murder following an altercation outside the Hare and Hounds pub at High Hawsker, near Whitby, at around 10pm on Sunday 20 April 2014.

He has further been charged with possession of a bladed article.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 22 April 2014 at 10am.

The victim, a 30-year-old man from Belper, Derbyshire, remains in a stable condition at James Cook University Hospital on Teesside.

An area outside the pub was cordoned off for a forensic examination which has now been completed.

Any witnesses to this incident are asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and pass information to the Force Control Room.
