A man and a woman have been slashed outside a pub in Oldham.

The incident occurred at around 1.25am on Saturday 19th April 2014.

Police attended the Duke of Edinburgh pub on Market Street following reports of an assault.

Both were taken to hospital where their condition is described as serious but stable.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of two accounts of section 18 assault and remains in police custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Lewis Hughes from Oldham division said: “We do not believe this was a random attack and from the investigation so far, it appears all parties involved are known to each other. The offender is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call police as soon as possible.”
