Elderly residents have cash stolen

Police are appealing for information after three similar incidents in the Middlesbrough area involving a man stealing cash from elderly residents.
The incidents occurred between Thursday 17th April and Saturday 19th April at addresses on Dalcross Court in Hemlington, Ravendale Road in Middlesbrough and Park Avenue in South Bank, Middlesbrough.

A man knocked on the door at the three addresses who have elderly occupants and offered to sell them cigarettes and whisky. When they have got money to pay him he has made off with the money, in total around £750.

The man is described as being white, aged in his twenties, around 5ft 8” – 5ft 9” tall, of chubby build with short, light brown hair which was possibly partly shaven and with a round face and bright blue eyes.

DC Paul Whitehouse said: “Residents are reminded not to buy items from people that come to their front door without legitimate identification, not to let people that they do not know into their house and also not to show them items of value.”
