Armed robbery at Gills Newsagent in Newcastle

Northumbria Police have released a CCTV still of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a robbery.

Police received reports of a robbery at Gills Newsagents on Bedeburn Foot in Newbiggin Hall and brandished a knife.

The man went behind the counter and stole cigarettes from the store, placing them into a JD sports bag.

He also demanded cash from the assistant but left empty handed when another member of the public entered the shop.

Officers have been carrying out enquiries into the robbery, including viewing CCTV.

They would like to trace the man pictured as it’s thought he was in the area at the time and may have information that can help with enquiries.
