Police have today named a young woman who was stabbed to death after a formal identification.

Police attended a house at 9.15am Thursday 6 March 2014, to Holt Street, salford.

There were concerns for welfare at the property.

When officers attended they found the body of a 24-year-old woman, who has now been formally identified as Rebecca Ayres, known to family members as Becks.

A Home Office post mortem concluded she died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

A 25-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody for questioning.

Anyone with information should phone police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
