Police are today continuing their investigations following the suspected manslaughter of a two year old girl in Blackpool.
Police received a call from the ambulance service following reports that a toddler had suffered cardiac arrest, at an address on Jameson Street in Blackpool.
Sadly the child who has not yet been named was rushed to hospital where she died.
A post mortem examination is due to be carried out to try to establish the exact cause of death.
Four people, two women aged 29 and 65, and two men aged 41 and 60, all from Blackpool, were arrested on suspicion of child neglect
The 65 year old woman and the 60 year old man have been released no further action.
Meanwhile, the 29 year old woman and the 41 year old man have now also been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
They remain in police custody where they continue to be questioned.
Detective Superintendent Paul Withers, of Lancashire Constabulary’s Force Major Investigation Team, said: “This is a tragic incident where a little girl has lost her life. A full investigation is underway to try to establish exactly what has happened. Specially trained officers are offering support to the family.”
