A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged armed robbery and sexual assault

A man has been arrested with an alleged armed robbery and sexual assault at a farm in Salsburgh last year.

The sexual assault and robbery happened near Salsburgh, North Lanarkshire in Scotland on the morning of Thursday September 5th last year.

A man entered the caravan (home) and  threatened a 32 yr old woman with a gun then tied her up and demanded money before raping  her. He is then said to have fled the scene in her BMW car which was found at the side of the road several miles away by police.

Police Scotland said a 46 yr old man had been arrested and has been questioned.

A report has been sent to procurator fiscal and he is expected to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court in North Lanarkshire tomorrow.

A reconstruction of the crime was televised on Crimewatch in January 2014.
