A man is in custody after being sniffed out by a police dog following an attempted burglary and a shed burglary in Lichfield.
Police were called to a report of an intruder at an address in Beech Gardens at around 2.30am this morning, Friday 7 February.
Officers attended and began searching the area, with assistance from the Dog Support Unit. General purpose police dog Harley soon picked up a scent and began tracking, leading officers to gardens in Upper St John Street.
They discovered damage to a garden gate and found the garden shed had been entered but nothing appeared stolen. The search continued and resulted in Harley locating the suspect in a nearby garden.
The suspect, a 17-year-old male from Birmingham, was arrested and remains in custody for questioning.
