Man jailed for raping teenage girl in Preston

A man has been jailed for 8 years for raping and sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Preston.

Christopher Croston, 31, formerly of the Netherton area of Liverpool, pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault, both contrary to the Sexual Offences Act 2003, when he appeared at Preston Crown Court in December.

He was sentenced as a dangerous offender and sentenced to 8 years with an extended licence of 4 years. He will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for life.

Police launched an investigation after a 14 year old girl was sexually assaulted after being followed by a man as she walked home in Ribbleton on Monday night, 30th September.

The victim had been out with friends around 8.10pm and was walking home along Ribbleton Avenue when she was approached by a man who has tried to engage her in conversation.

The victim continued to walk home, but when she got near to the RSPCA building the man dragged her down a set of steps, pushed her to the floor and subjected her to a sexual assault before running off in the direction of Ribbleton Hall Drive.

Christopher CrostonCroston was traced to an address in Liverpool where he was arrested.
