Detectives in Buxton are investigating a serious incident following a serious assault in Buxton.

At 4.40pm Friday, February 7th a man was covered in in accelerants and set on fire. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Officers are seeking help from the public and would ask anyone who saw people gathering just up from Tikka Villa takeaway on Fairfield Road at 4.30pm that day, saw a disturbance near to the takeaway between 4.30pm and 4.40pm that day or have any further information relating to this incident to contact Derbyshire police using the non-emergency 101 number.

Jake Grimshaw (23) of South Mews, Buxton has been charged with attempted murder. He is due to appear at Derby Crown Court on Monday, February 24.
