Northumbria Police have arrested a man after two people were found dead in a house.

Police received reports at 9.15pm on Tuesday, February 11, that a man was running in to the roar and causing a disturbance at Front Street in Benton. Officers attended and detained the 25-year-old man.

Police conducted further enquiries which led to the discovery of two bodies of a man and woman at a house on front street.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 25-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder and he is currently in custody helping with enquiries.
