A woman was knocked unconscious by two robbers

A woman was briefly knocked unconscious by robbers who stole her handbag. 

At about 10.50pm on 27 January 2014, a 26-year-old woman was walking along Bothwell Road in Collyhurst when she noticed two men standing near to the junction with Kirkgate close.

As she reached the junction with Salcot Walk she saw the men again.

A moment later she was pushed to the ground. She banged her head and momentarily lost consciousness.

When she came round the offenders were trying to steal the bag she had strapped across her body.

Following a brief struggle the strap broke and the offenders ran off with her bag, containing cash and personal items.

Both were white, in their early 20s and of slim build. One was wearing a blue hooded top and grey jogging pants and the other was wearing a grey hooded top and jogging bottoms.

Detective Constable Nick Boardman, said: “These two thieves have targeted a lone woman as she walked home late at night.

“They have committed a violent robbery in order to steal her bag and I want the public’s help to identify them before they strike again.

“If you saw anyone, have information about the incident or think you recognise these two by their description and clothing please contact us.”
