A female body has been found today (9th February) in the River Derwent near Brigham.

Police and Mountain Rescue team spotted the body in the water at around 11:45am.

Formal identification has not yet taken place and enquiries are on-going.

Her family are being supported by officers at this difficult time.

POLICE-630x418The coroner will be informed.

UPDATED @18.20 Cumbria Police can confirm that the body which was found today at around 11.45am has been identified as missing person Margaret Huddart, aged 80, from Cockermouth.

Her body was found in the River Derwent near Brigham. Police are not treating her death as suspicious.
