A woman has died this morning after a boat fire in Brightlingsea, Essex.

emergency services were called to a fire in a house boat in Brightlingsea marina.

Police have cordoned off a part of Morgan’s Boat Yard in Copperas Road.

Essex Police was called to the scene just before 7.55am this morning.

A spokesman for the police said: “A woman was rescued from the boat by firefighters and was given emergency medical assistance at the scene by police and paramedics as well as doctors from the Essex Air Ambulance.

“Sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation in to the cause of the fire will be carried out, however, it is not thought to be suspicious.”
