Woman assaulted while walking along footpath

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man assaulted a woman near a dual carriageway in Stoke-on-Trent.

The victim, a 38-year-old woman from Stoke-on-Trent, was walking along the elevated footpath alongside the A50, near Longton, between Box Lane and Uttoxeter Road when she was approached by a man at around 6.40am on Wednesday 22 January.

The man assaulted the woman before running off towards Longton.

Fortunately, the victim was not injured during the attack but was left shaken.

The offender is described as a white man aged in his 50s. He had a slim build and was 6ft tall with brown hair with grey running through it. He wore a black beanie hat and a thigh length dark grey long coat. He is described as having a scruffy and unkempt appearance.
