A Soldier based at Colchester Garrison has been charged for allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into the UK.

Private Daryl Archer, 26, was arrested at Terminal One after arriving back from Brazil on Wednesday.

He is a member of 13 Air Assault Support Regiment Royal Logistic Corps and is accused of trying to smuggle 5kg of cocaine.

A single charge of attempting to import the class A drug into the country has been made against him.

Archer is due to appear at Isleworth Crown Court in Greater London later this month and he was remanded in custody until the next hearing.
