Police want to speak to man after Tamworth FC incident

Police are appealing for help in tracing a man in connection with an incident at Tamworth FC.

The match took place at the Lamb, Tamworth’s home ground on Saturday 8h December 2013 when they played League 1 side Bristol City in the FA Cup. Despite Tamworth losing the tie 2-1, the majority of all fans attending that day were well behaved.

A red smoke bomb was ignited just prior to kick off and thrown onto the pitch from the away terrace. A young female steward who inhaled the fumes needed treatment for respiratory problems at the club before being taken to the Good Hope Hospital at Sutton Coldfield for further treatment. She was discharged later that evening.

Television Footage of the incident has been reviewed and two still images have been produced of a man dressed in a dark jacket and white shirt, who we would like to speak to in connection with this incident.

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact the Football Liaison Officer 01785 238259 or to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers, by calling 0800 555 111.
