Cumbria Police have this morning charged Genus Zanzibar aged 38 with two offences relating to carrying weapons in a public place.

Zanzibar was involved in an armed standoff with police after officers were threatened with a knife which occurred on Thames Road in Walney on Wednesday 22 January 2014.

Zanzibar will appear before Furness and Districts Magistrates Court on Friday 24th January 2014.

Police would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation at the time of the incident, and their subsequent assistance with our enquires.
