Police investigating a serious collision near Northallerton are appealing for a vital witness to contact them.
It occurred at 3.50pm on Saturday 4 January 2014, on the B6271 Yafforth Road, near to the entrance for B&Q.
The collision involved a blue Subaru Impreza and a silver Toyota Yaris.
As a result of the incident, an 81-year-old Northallerton woman, driving the Yaris, suffered serious injuries and was taken to James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough, where she currently remains in a stable condition.
Police are particularly keen to trace the driver of a white van, which was seen in the area at the time.
The road was closed for around five hours following the collision.
Traffic Sergeant Steve Beckwith, of the Force’s Roads Policing Group, said: “I need to trace the driver of the white van which was in the area at the time of the collision, as I believe that they may have vital information that could help my investigation.
“If you witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles prior to the incident, I urge you to contact the police straight away.”
