Pair threatened woman with knife during attempted robbery in Leigh

Two men threatened a woman at knifepoint during an attempted robbery in Leigh.

Just after 8pm on Tuesday 28 January 2014, the men broke into a house on Maple Crescent and walked into the living room.

They confronted a 59-year-old woman and demanded they gave her money.

They searched the house but left empty handed.

The woman was not hurt.

The man carrying the knife is described as being white, 5ft 5in tall, of slim build, wore a beige hooded top and a scarf covering the lower part of his face.

Detective Constable Stuart Woodhead said: “Unfortunately we do not have a description of the second offender as the victim was so frightened, her attention was on the man holding the knife.

“I would ask anyone who may have either seen these men break into the back of the house or leave at the time of the incident to contact police.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 7292 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
