Non-stop RTC police appeal

Police are appealing for witnesses following a non-stop RTC on Leek Road, Longsdon.

The incident occurred at approximately 3.20pm on Saturday 11 January as two motorcyclists were attempting to turn right onto Leek Old Road.

The male riders, one on a black scooter and the other on a red and white moped, were travelling from the direction of Endon on Leek Road.

As the riders, aged 16 and 17, approached the turn at slow speed an unidentified vehicle (travelling the same way) has been in collision with one the motorcycles, causing both cycles to collide with each other and be pushed further up the road.

The offending vehicle has failed to stop and carried on in the same direction of travel. There is a possibility it may have been a silver-coloured BMW, but there were several vehicles which passed by at the time.

Both riders sustained injury, including heavy grazing and tissue damage to their legs, with the 17-year-old receiving hospital treatment.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or was driving in the area at the time, is asked to contact PC Halim Fazal at Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 523 of January 11.
