Moped rider taken to hospital following collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision which happened at around 8.05pm on Thursday 16th January at the junction of the A66 and Normanby Road in South Bank.

The collision involved a Toyota Yaris and a Matrix 2 moped.

The 19-year-old male rider of the moped was taken to James Cook University Hospital with minor facial injuries.

He was kept in overnight for observation. A second man who was a passenger on the moped made off.

Police would like to speak to any witnesses or anyone who may know the identity of the passenger who was travelling on the moped.

Any witnesses are asked to contact PC Ian Largan from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency 101 number, quoting reference number 8468.
