Selby police are warning residents to be on their guard after a Mercedes and jewellery were stolen in a 2 in 1 burglary in Great Heck.

Between 12pm and 6.10pm on Wednesday 22 January 2014, a detached property on Main Street was broken into. After searching the property and stealing jewellery and a rucksack, the offenders then took the owner’s car keys, entered their garage and stole a white, Mercedes C Class car.

PC Dave White of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity or people on Main Street on Wednesday or anyone who saw the white Mercedes being driven away.

“We also appeal to anyone who knows the whereabouts of the vehicle now, to contact us without delay.

PC White added: “If you see any suspicious people or vehicles in your neighbourhood, don’t hesitate to call the police on 101. You may think its nothing but your call could be the one that stops you or your neighbour becoming victims of crime. However, if you see a crime taking place, always call 999.“

Anyone with any information that could assist with this investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Craig Hannah. You can also email [email protected]

If you would prefer to remain anonymous, information can be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
