A man was hit on the head during a robbery in Ramsbottom.

It happened around 7.20pm on Sunday 12 January 2014 when two masked men went into Bargain Booze on Bolton Road West.

They threatened staff and demanded money. One of the men hit a member of staff on the head with what was believed to be a handgun before taking cash from the till.

Both men left in the direction of Ramsbottom town centre.

One of the men is described as being possibly in his early 20s, around 6ft tall and slim. He is described as wearing a white ‘V for Vendetta’ mask, a black tracksuit jacket with hood up, light blue jeans with scuff marks and grey or blue deck shoes with white laces.

The other man is described as slim and was wearing a dark grey Adidas hooded top, white and grey jogging bottoms and black trainers.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses.

Detective Sergeant Alison Byrne said: “The man was not badly injured but the men did manage to get away with the cash.

“We are urging anyone who was in the area and remembers seeing the men described to get in touch with police.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 8181 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
