Police have charged Luke Douglas, 18, of Park Road, has been charged with section 18 wounding with intent and is due to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court this morning.

DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a 30 year old man suffered serious injuries after being stabbed at a house in Darwen.

Around 3.20am on New Year’s Day (Wednesday 1 January 2014), police were called to the house on Park Road where a man had been stabbed in the chest.

The 30 year old was taken to Royal Preston hospital where he is being treated for a punctured lung; his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

An 18 year old man from Darwen has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent and is currently in police custody.

Detective Inspector Mark Vaughton said: “An investigation is now underway in relation to this serious assault and our enquiries are continuing.

“We have spoken with a number of people already about the incident, but I am keen to speak with anybody else who may have any information which they believe could assist us.”
