The family and friends of Daniel Staples, known as Podge have paid tribute to a “loving, caring and fun loving person.”
Daniel tragically died following a road traffic collision on Tuesday 21 January 2014. He was driving a Vauxhall Vectra when it collided with a milk tanker.
Daniel’s parents, Tony and Kath Staples have described how their son was: “Loving and caring towards all his friends and family. He was an outgoing lad who was always full of fun. He had just started his career after working so hard to get qualified and was looking forward to being best man at his friend’s wedding this year and was planning the stag do.
“We all miss him so much and are still coming to terms that he has gone. His passing has left an void in our lives that he, with his presence and vitality, filled. There was never a dull moment with him around.”
The driver of the tanker, a man aged 64 from Fletchertown was not injured.
Police continue to appeal for any witnesses to the collision to come forward. Anyone with information can speak to Cumbria Police on 101 and ask for PC Steven Wakefield at the Cumbria Roads Policing Unit.
