Elderly woman targeted in Middlesbrough distraction burgalry

Police are appealing for witnesses to a distraction burglary which took place on Friday 17th January on Grosvenor Road, Middlesbrough at around 1.40pm.

Two males posing as electricians spoke with the elderly female occupant of a house, stating that they needed to check on the electrics in the house.

The two males entered the address and whilst one of them distracted the female the other stole her handbag containing a large amount of money. The two males then left and it was at this point the female realised she had had her handbag stolen.

The first man is described as white, around 50 years old, and was tall, of medium build with grey hair and was wearing a yellow illuminus top.

The second man is described as white, younger and smaller than the first, and had black hair.
