CCTV appeal after robbery on Burnley bookmakers

POLICE have issued CCTV images of a man they need to trace after two masked men armed with a metal pole targeted a bookmaker in Burnley.

The robbery took place at the William Hill betting shop on Briercliffe Road around 9.20pm on Saturday 4th January.

One of the men threated a female member of staff whilst a second man remained stood at the door keeping watch.

After failing to force his way into the store office the man reached under the security glass and grabbed a coin holder containing £137 in cash.

The offender pictured in the CCTV image is described as Asian, 5ft9 with a thin face and spoke with a local Asian accent. He wore a balaclava covering his face.

Detective David Greenwood from Burnley CID said: “This was a terrifying incident for the shop worker and I would urge any members of the local community with any information that could assist with our enquiry to come forward if they have any information regarding the offence.
