A car belonging to missing Barnsley man Anthony Brown was spotted heading in the direction of North Yorkshire on the day he went missing.
For the past week, police have been making enquiries into the whereabouts of the 47-year-old and have traced his silver Mazda 3 ts2 to the A64 where it was being driven east towards York just before 2pm on Monday 20 January 2014.
Officers believe he may still be in the North Yorkshire area, but he is also known to have contacts in Pudsey and may well have driven there.
Anthony was last seen by his partner on Monday morning at his home address in Darton. He left the house with a little bit of cash but with no known means of making any further withdrawals.
It is out of character for him to go missing and his partner is keen to know he is safe and well.
Tim Fish, missing persons officer in Barnsley, said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Anthony’s welfare and his partner is desperate to know he is ok.
“His vehicle has been traced to the A64 but we are keen to hear from anyone who has seen it in the area, or anywhere else in Yorkshire. We also want people who own bed and breakfasts, or accommodation in the North and West Yorkshire areas, to check their premises for a vehicle similar to the one Anthony drives.
“It is the first time he has gone missing and he hasn’t made contact with any friends or family for more than a week which is highly unusual.
“We are appealing for Anthony, or anyone who has seen him, to get in touch by calling 101.”
Anthony drives a sliver four-door Mazda 3 ts2 with a registration number starting YL04. The car has a scratch down the front nearside bumper and is fitted with a roof-rack.
