A Durham Constabulary police officer has beeb banned from the road policing unit and had his licence suspended after a prisoner accuses him of speeds of 140mph.

The police constable was traveling a prisoner from Leeds to Darlington during the journey they exchanged words which lead the officer to showing the prisoner how fast the marked BMW could go.

It is reported that the prisoner asked how fast the car could go to which the officer promptly replied “I’ll show you’ or “let’s see” the police officer then accelerated to 140mph. Which is twice the legal limit.

Upon arrival at Darlington Police Station the prisoner informed the custody sergeant of how fast they had been travelling.
