Police can confirm that a woman who fell into water earlier today (11th January) has sadly died.

Police were called at 10:45am today with a report of a woman in the water at Force Forge, Ulverston.

Fire and ambulance attended and she was rescued from the water at around 11am. It is believed she has fallen into the water and got into difficulty.

The 60 year old woman, from Satterthwaite, was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary in a serious condition, where she later sadly died.

Police are not treating the incident as suspicious at this time.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call Cumbria Police on 101 and ask for Barrow CID.
