£5K worth of jewellery stolen

Detectives in York are appealing for information following a burglary and jewellery theft in the Askham Bar area of the city.

It occurred between Sunday 5 January and Thursday 9 January 2014, from a house on Ashfield Court.

The thieves stole items including a gold ring set with an opal and diamonds on the shoulder, gold eternity rings, a gold solitaire diamond ring, gold bracelets, one with amethyst links and a gold cameo pendant on a gold chain. They also took a 1939 enamelled shilling on a gold chain and a number of gold chains of varying lengths. The total value of the stolen jewellery is around £5,000.

Detective Constable Kevin Goodman, of York CID, said: “If you have any information which could help to identify those responsible for this burglary and theft, I urge you to come forward and contact the police straight away.

“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been offered jewellery matching the description of the items taken, and ask them to get in touch straight away.”
