Cumbria Police have launched a criminal investigation after a 17-Year-Old female has made an allegation of a serious sexual assault.
Police launched the investigation following the incident which occurred on Sunday 19th January 2014.
A 17-Year-Old female attended Barrow Police Station and reported she had been sexually assaulted on Monday 20th January 2014.
The incident occurred at 2.30am in the Market Street area or Ulverston.
Cumbria Police have confirmed they have arrested an 18-year-old local man who is being held and interviews on suspicion or rape.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to make contact. Detectives are asking anyone who was out in Ulverston on Saturday night and may have been making their way home across Market Street between 1 and 2 am, and may have heard or seen something suspicious to contact Cumbria Police on 101 and speak to the on duty Sergeant at Barrow CID. Alternatively information can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
