Police in Port Talbot are appealing for witnesses following an assault of a 26-year-old woman which happened in the early hours of Monday morning.
The incident happened as the woman was walking home after a night out when she was found with head injuries near the entrance to the Memorial Park in Taibach.
She was discovered by a member of the public at the end of Maes y Cwrt Terrace on Commercial Road.
The incident happened sometime between midnight and 12.25am. The woman was taken to the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend.
Detective Inspector Mark Kavanagh of Neath Port Talbot CID said: “This is a very unusual incident whereby the victim has been found with head and facial injuries as she walked home after a night out.
“We are appealing to anyone with information about the incident or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in this area of Taibach on Sunday night into the early hours of Monday to contact the police.”
The victim had walked from the Old Surgery pub in Taibach in the direction of Port Talbot town centre wearing a white blouse and black jeans.
