Strong winds cause nightmare on the roads

Roads are continued to be affected in parts of Cumbria due to the weather.

Police are dealing with a number of incidents, including:

· Inkerman Terrace in Whitehaven – Road closed due to reports of a tree falling and blocking the road.

· The A6 at Hackthorpe – A tree is blocking the road. Motorists asked to avoid the area.

· Barncroft Avenue, Seaton – Road closed following a roof being blown off a property.

· A595 at Moota – Road closed in both directions following the a roof blown off the Moota Hotel.

The Highways Agency are in attendance at a number of incidents also.

People are advised to only travel if their journey is essential and seek alternative routes in those areas which are affected.
