Police have detained a serving soldier on terror charges after a nail bomb was discovered at his house.

Police confirm he was detained in Paderborn, Germany following the bomb being found in Salford

It is believed the soldier was detained by the Royal Military Police on suspicion of the unlawful possession of explosives, firearms and ammunition.

Police confirm he has been interviewed and questioned by detectives in Greater Manchester and has been released on bail until January 2014

The nail bomb was discovered after a warrant was executed at an address on Mellor Street in Patricroft on November 28 at 1.30pm.
