ITV are currently trying to return the north east to service after everyone watching ITV1 in the north black screened during the performance of James Arthur.

Both ITV 1 and ITV 2 are currently offline for viewers in the north.

ITV have requested everyone to switch over to ITV HD while they fix the problem.

Some people are still experiencing problems, however many have resumed normal service.

ITV have issued an on air apology to everyone in the north and aim to have everything back soon.

Itv has said ‘Itv 1 and itv 2 both offline

@ITV: For everyone who has temporarily lost @itv and @itv2, we’re are working hard to get your signal back…’

A number of Tweets and Facebook posts now suggest the problem is fixed.
