Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault involving around ten people, in which a man suffered a head injury.

The 38-year-old victim was punched to the head during the incident, which took place on Normanby Road in Middlesbrough between midnight and 1am on Saturday 21st December.

He remains in James Cook University Hospital in a stable condition.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact DC Dan Heron from CID on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
