Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of two girls after being hit by a car in Hampshire.

Police have confirmed a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old who were hit by a car on Ann’s Hill Road near to Brougham Street in Gosport.

Detective Superintendent Dick Pearson, from Hampshire Police said: ‘This is an extremely tragic incident which has resulted in the death of two young girls. I currently have a team of detectives and other officers working on this case to fully investigate the circumstances.’

A 20-year-old man from Gosport has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Major Investigation Team at Fratton Police Station on 101, quoting Operation Barb.
