Police made two arrests shortly before 6pm this evening, Saturday 30th November, following the Hartlepool United and Portsmouth football match.
Two local men aged 19 and 54 were arrested on Church Street on suspicion of affray and will be questioned by police.
Chief Superintendent Ciaron Irvine, Silver Commander for Cleveland Police said: “I’d like to make it clear that the two arrests are in no way linked to the earlier demonstrations that took place in Hartlepool today, which passed off without incident or any arrests. It’s disappointing that we have ended up with people in custody on what has otherwise been a successful day.”
The Middlesbrough match passed off without incident or any arrests being made.
