POLICE are appealing for information after a small firework was pushed through the letterbox of a house in Whitworth yesterday, 19th November.

The incident took place around 6.40pm at an address on Market Street when the small firework has fallen onto the carpet below and caused a small burn.

PC Richard Collopy said: “It is possible this could be local youths playing a prank but this is a serious incident in which somebody could have been hurt had a fire taken hold.

“Our investigation is continuing but I would appeal to anybody that witnessed this incident or with any information about those responsible to contact Lancashire Police on 101.”

People with information can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
