***Statement from Chief Superintendent Ciaron Irvine, Silver Commander***

The demonstrations and counter demonstrations have passed off in Hartlepool today without incident, and no arrests were made.

There was a small level of disruption to traffic in the town centre as protestors made their way around the planned route, but this was kept to a minimum.

Police met with all protest groups over the last couple of weeks to facilitate the demonstrations today.

We have been in close contact with the community across Hartlepool to inform them about the possible disruption on the day to the town centre, which was limited to a couple of hours.

We would thank everyone concerned for their co-operation.
