Belfast controlled explosion takes place

Police Service Northern Ireland and the bomb disposal team are currently carrying out a controlled explosion on a car which has caused a security alert in Victoria street.

It follows an incident in which police were clearing the area and an explosion was heard, a car was damaged by no one was hurt.

It is believed the main bomb did not explode.

The area is expected to be closed for some time.
