Armed Police have been deployed to the streets of Wigton following reports of a robbery this afternoon.

Police received reports of an incident on George Street, Wigtom where a woman was threatened with a firearm.

The woman was not harmed, however police have launched an armed search following the incident to local a vehicle a stolen car and offender.

The Vehicle existed the high street, the Vehicle is described as dark blue Vauxhall Corsa Registration H20 DXX.

The man who stole the car is described as 5ft 6” tall, of a thin build, around 18 to 20 years old, wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, waterproof jacket with blue trim and a blue hat.

As a precaution police are asking the public if they see the vehicle or the offender to contact Cumbria Police immediately on 101.
